NHBC is the UK's leading independent standard-setting body and provider of warranty and insurance for new homes. Our role is to work with the house-building industry to www.nhbc.co.uk raise the standards of new homes and to provide consumer protection for homebuyers.
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is the UK's largest trade association in the building
industry, with national offices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, supported by
additional regional offices. Established in 1941 to protect the interests of small and medium-
sized building firms, the FMB is independent and non-profit-making, lobbying continuously for
members’ interests at both national and local levels.The FMB is a source of knowledge,
professional advice and support for building firms right across the UK. The FMB also offers
practical advice and support to the general public on choosing and working with the right builder.
Six national associations representing construction craftsmen in several European
countries therefore joined forces in 1990 to establish the EBC – European Builders
Confederation – the Voice of Construction Craftsand SMEs in Europe. Via its
permanent office in Brussels, EBC works in close collaboration with the European
Association of Craft,Small and Medium-sized Entreprises (UEAPME) and the European
Office of Crafts, Trades and SMEs forStandardization (NORMAPME), organisations of which
EBC is a member.
The only website to list members of The Guild Of Master Craftsmen exclusively. The Guild is
the UKs leading trade association and always asks potential members for just that kind of recommendation.
The Guild's council of management include a review of the references when considering the
application for membership as well as ensuring all other criteria are met. Only when they are
satisfied that the applicant really does deserve to be called a master craftsmen is the
application approved. This is about as close as you can get to receiving a recommendation
from one of your neighbours or friends.
CSCS was set up to help the construction industry to improve quality and reduce
accidents.CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence
by contractors, public and private clients and others. They cover hundreds of occupations
so whatever you do in construction there will be a card that is suitable for you.
